I’m so lucky really, to have friends such as mine. On a freezing winter’s day here, my friend who is a celebrant-in-training organized a memorial for my mum, who has been dead for these past fifteen years.
I felt like she has finally been laid to rest, with a simple ceremony, and my dear friends close by-I just wanted it small, and personal. And so it was.
May the fourth be with you! A quick photo of some little Star Wars fans at the school where I’m working. Pretty gorgeous early winter’s day…
O the excitement! My friend who lives a few doors down went out yesterday and got himself three hens. I really love these beasts-i had to go catch this one, which was hiding under the house. She was so gentle, and let me pick her up. Such a joy! Think I’ll be spending a bit of time with Miss Chalkey and her two consorts…
Here’s two photos of our highway after Cyclone Gita’s tail sting…
We’ve just had the tail of Cyclone Gita hit our little bit of the world last night, a not too full-on storm, but bad enough.
All of the built access-ways to the beach have been destroyed, garages were flooded, fences smashed up with the flying debris of rubble, wood from structures, and waves. The highway out of here is down to one lane, since the waves were strong enough to undermine it in several places, as well as ripping up the footpath and the barrier.
Here’s some photos this late morning, after the fire brigade had already been through, clearing drains, and a council tractor had ‘cleared’ the road.
I catch public transport a lot! Need I say more?!
A glorious early summer’s day today, I walked into the park north of my home, and sat atop one of the huge dunes, watching the world go by. What a day to be alive!
Last weekend there was a Pride parade where I live. It seemed like everyone who lives here (almost) took part…the blustery spring weather didn’t stop people celebrating, and now there’s been a registration forwarded to Guinesses book of records for the world’s shortest pride parade (across our pedestrian crossing)…
The other night the Orcas came past…they were a distance out (perhaps a kilometre), and you could see them with your eye, but no photos of them here. Luckily for me, other people at the beach had binoculars for close-up views…
It’s winter here now, and today is very windy! After my bad luck last year of losing two new hand-knitted hats, I decided to start the season’s knitting with some cozy over-mitts. Now my hands look like I’m a knight 😄
